Kangra Fort – The Largest Fort in the Himalayas

History of Kangra Fort
Perched on a hillock between the Manjhi and Banganga rivers in the foothills of the Dhauladhar range, Kangra Fort has witnessed centuries of history. The earliest recorded mention dates back to Mahmud Ghazni's invasion in 1009 A.D.
Built by the Katoch Dynasty of Rajputs, the fort houses ancient Jain and Brahminical temples from the 9th-10th century A.D. Over the centuries, it has faced numerous sieges and changed hands between various rulers.
