Nagni Mata Mandir

Nagni Mata Mandir

According to the popular legend regarding the establishment of the temple, a snake charmer came to the temple of Mata Nagni and fraudulently locked her in his box. When the mother appeared to Raja Jagat Singh at night, he prayed to the snake charmer to release her. When the snake charmer stopped at Kandwal in Noorpur, the king freed the serpent from that snake charmer and brought her back to her original place in Bhadwar. Nagni Mata is also known as Sursa Mata, the goddess of snakes. During the fairs or in between, the devotees in the form of Nagni get visible visions of the mother in the water stream, in the sanctum sanctorum or in the courtyard of the temple. Sometimes their color is like copper and sometimes golden, sometimes milky and sometimes a snake is seen sitting on the pindi.

It is believed that once a patient of snakebite reaches the shelter of Mata Nagni, he goes home only after recovering.
